Single Lumen Tubes
Single lumen tubes are the quintessential tube in the medical device industry. It is a tube with a single hole in the center that is the workhorse during a surgical/medical procedure. Single lumens are most commonly used in forms of delivery systems (braided shafts), urological and drainage catheters.

- Fillers include:
- BaSO4 (Barium Sulfate) – Lowest radiopacity, great processing capability, lowest cost. Typical loading <40%
- BiCOl (Bismuth Suboxychloride) – High radiopacity, great processing capability, higher cost than Bi202(CO3). Typical loading <30%
- Bi2O2(CO3) (Bismuth Subcarbonate) – High radiopacity, poor processing capability, relatively lower cost. Typical loading <30%
- W (Tungsten) – Highest radiopacity, requires HLS for proper processing, highest cost. Typical loading <85%
- Lubricous additives (Foster Corp ProPell and ProPell Plus)
